
The Garden Club started harvesting the garden last week at their first meeting of the year!





Last week, a group of students involved in music at GMMS got together for some team building at a local corn maze. Everyone had a great time working together to get through the maze!

The GMMS music department is currently running an online store with American Ink where you can purchase short sleeve tees, long sleeve tees, and hoodies in any and all of your favorite school colors. The store is open through Tuesday, September 19! So act fast and support your favorite musicians.

10 students from GMMS were accepted into the Sioux Falls Middle School All-City Band, which is made up from 10 different middle schools across the city. Rehearsals for the band will be right here at GMMS, directed by our own Mr. Rygg. The All-City Band will perform a concert at the Washington Pavilion in November with band ensembles from Augustana University!

McGovern football put up a fight against Tea on Monday and Tuesday this week! Although they may have not come out on top all teams played great games! Keep up the hard work eagles!





McGovern volleyball is off to strong start this year! Both 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams started the season out with wins! Keep working hard eagles!

We are thrilled to share that Mrs. Iverson has been selected as a National Book Foundation Teacher Fellow for the 2023/24 school year! The NBF Teacher Fellowship supports and celebrates 6th-12th grade teachers using innovative methods to make reading for pleasure a part of their students’ school day experience. Over the course of the school year, Mrs. Iverson will implement a reading program that focuses on the joy of reading, helping students find and read books that speak to them, and supporting the development of lifelong reading habits.

Fall sports start on Monday, August 28! ! If a student is interested in playing football, volleyball, or running cross country, they must have a sports physical! If athletes do not have a sports physical, they will not be able to attend practice. All physical for fall sports must be completed and turned in by Friday, September 8.
