Excuse us while we brag for a minute… Our Superintendent is pretty talented! Dr. Jane Stavem is an accomplished pianist, vocalist, trumpet player, French horn player, percussionist, xylophone player… oh, and she also plays harmonica! 😉 These talents, along with her deep love for all things Fine Arts, earned her the honor of Parade Marshal for Festival of Bands 2022! We are proud to be lead by someone who values the role extracurriculars play in “preparing each student to succeed in a changing world!”

Homecoming week is off to a great start!
The 6th grade band played a special tune for Mrs. Kriz-Hurley on her birthday!
McGovern is a busy place this week as we celebrate Jefferson's Homecoming. Don't forget Gamers Club starts Tuesday!
The volleyball team spent Thursday night cheering Jefferson on to their win over Brandon Valley!

Last week, we got the opportunity to share how great GMMS is with educators and administrators from the International Visitor Leadership Program through the U.S. Department of State.
The Sioux Falls Middle School All-City Honor Band was recently selected for 2022! George McGovern placed 5 students in the band! They will perform at the Washington Pavilion on November 10 with the Augustana Wind Ensemble. The honor band will be conducted by McGovern's own Mr. Rygg.
Congratulations to these outstanding band students who were selected to participate in this band!

7th grade volleyball is off to a great start this season! The A and B teams put up a good fight against Ben Reifel but didn't come out the win. The C and D team both won their matches! Keep up the good work ladies!

7th grade A team lost a close game to Whittier while the B team tied.
8th grade A team beat Whittier 36-0. The B team pulled out a 14-7 win.
